Divorce in Australia is a matter for the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). When a sole application for divorce is filed, the application and related papers generally must be served on the other party (the respondent).
A party to the case usually cannot serve those papers themselves. A person over 18 who is not a party — often a professional process server — serves them.
